The Stationmaster

About the Stationmaster

Welcome to The Coaling Station. My name is Jerry (really Gerald) Gorzoch, I'm hopelessly addicted to railroading and railroadiana. My interests are purely romantic and general in nature. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA during the 40's and 50's and favor that period in railroading. I lived about a mile west of Pittsburghs' Golden Triangle in a neighborhood called Esplen. I'm sure of that because that was the name on the PRR switch tower in back of my home. The Ohio river ran in front of my home. Between my home and the river lay the tracks used by the B&O, NYC and the P&LE. Small wonder that I've been terminally smitten by the railroad bug.

I currently reside in Sierra Vista, Arizona where I operate a railroad collectibles business, The Coaling Station. I started the Coaling Station in1995 when I retired from a civil service career with the Department of Defense. The business was named after the Southern Pacific coaling station at Mescal, AZ where the local (Cochise) chapter of the NRHS would hold Sunday picnics.
